Coup d'Etat (stylized as COUP D'ETAT) is the second studio album by South Korean rapper G-Dragon, member and leader of the K-pop group Big Bang. The first five tracks of the album were released on September 2, 2013, the next seven tracks were released on September 5, and physical copies were released on September 13. The album contains the single "MichiGO" which was released earlier in 2013.
Supporting established metal acts like Kiss attracted curiosity, but record sales stayed spotty, leading to the band's demise. But Coup d'Etat hardly signals a band teetering on its last legs, sounding as fiercely uncompromising as its predecessors. The difference is Dieter Dirks' production, which more firmly than ever positions the band in the metal orbit. Dirks is best-known for his work with the Scorpions.

Coup d’état is a new collaborative project from Australia’s Kane Ikin and Harvey Sutherland. Ikin’s rhythmic tendencies are given space, too, with the fractal ambience of his last album for 12k gesturing the mood. Last year’s mixtape for Blowing Up The Workshop indicates that his forthcoming work on Type and Latency Recordings should continue to chart this terrain.
