Eugène Ysaÿe: Works for Violin & Orchestra.
Eugène-Auguste Ysaÿe (French: ; 16 July 1858 – 12 May 1931) was a Belgian violinist, composer and conductor. He was regarded as "The King of the Violin", or, as Nathan Milstein put it, the "tsar". Eugène Ysaÿe came from a background of "artisans", though a large part of his family played instruments.
Left: Eugène Ysaÿe (center) with his brother Théo (left) and the French composer Raoul Pugno. Right: Ysaÿe with Camille Decreus in the Columbia studios in 1912. He almost certainly used his 1740 Guarneri for these recordings.
